Who I am . . .
My name is Rev. Susan Hodges Bullard, and the purpose of this website is to introduce myself to you as a spiritual director and an ordained interfaith minister. I completed the Spiritual Direction Program at Haden Institute in January, 2013. I was ordained from One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in June, 2022.
My spiritual journey began when I was born to a father, who was a Southern Baptist minister, and a mother, who was much more of a Christian mystic than she was able to admit. As a young girl, blessed by both dismay and encouragement from my parents, I challenged the thought that any religion has a market on God. My spiritual journey continued as I joined the Presbyterian (USA) church, where I have served in many roles including Deacon and Elder. I have continued to challenge the thought that God speaks to us through only one specific religiosity. God is so much bigger than that. I am a Christian. I am mindful of the teachings of Christ - I also believe significant truths can be discovered by studying other spiritual leaders from other faith traditions that are woven into the tapestry of Wisdom.
The Holy has breathed gently, and sometimes not so gently, along my path. Many spiritual companions have been presences of Love and Grace - for them I express gratitude. Two of these presences have embodied the energies of boldness and nurturing - R. Daniel Holloway, M.Div, D.Min. and Robert A. Lane, DCE - and this direction is named in their honor.
With intention, I am so very grateful all of our stories are still being written. I am grateful for masculine and feminine energies embodied in each of us. I am grateful for wondering. I am grateful for the opportunity to companion with you as you continue your journey of mental health and spiritual wholeness. I am grateful for the Holy Mystery Known By Many Names.
